First of all, I hope those of you reading this blog are weathering the storm of this pandemic. What strange times. I sincerely hope you are staying healthy and finding some creative outlets of your own with the new-found downtime. I know I have seen an increase in my productivity and learning. Lots of online demonstrations from artists I admire - and time to watch and absorb that I never had time for previously.

PLEIN AIR EASTON is ON! I am scrambling to ship paintings from home, frames, supplies and plein air gear for the re-imaginged, socially-distanced live event Saturday, July 11 thru Thursday, July 16. We have 38 artists attending from all over the country and will be setting up for Saturday’s « Meet the Artists Exhibition » where you can watch us paint on 6 of Talbot County’s premier private properties and purchase our paintings on the spot from 4-8pm.

Monday-Wedensday the artists will be located and painting plein air in Oxford, Tilghman, Easton and Chesapeake Bay. Please come by if you are in the area - these are the top plein air painters in the country and an opportunity to buy some beautiful art.

Sonoma Plein Air in September, which I was thrilled to learn I was juried into this year has been moved to 2021.

I am also participating in Mary Williams Fine Art « Sanctuary » online sale » with all paintings 20% off regular price.

Thank you for visiting my website and please come by my studio if you ever find yourself in Sun Valley, Idaho!

Take care,

Kathy Marsh Riedinger

The past year has been a very busy one for me professionally and personally. 2019 ushered forth some tremendous opportunities for artistic growth. In April, I traveled to Queenstown, New Zealand for a fantastic workshop with Jill Carver and participated in her workshop in Ketchum in the Fall.

With this focus, I have decided to hand the reins over for the Wood River Workshops to Sherri Carter, a fantastic painter herself…and VERY organized. These workshops have brought the best landscape painters in the country to Sun Valley over the past 5 years: Jill Carver (her 6th year here in June!), Skip Whitcomb, Kathryn Stats, G. Russell Case and Michael Lynch. It was, truly, an honor to have these artists teach here, study with them and to get to know each one a personal level. We will continue to offer these excellent plein air workshops with our partners, Wood River Fine Art and Randi Kanellitsas.

I am now focusing on painting the landscape near my home - southwestern mountains of Idaho - to spend time painting, studying and improving my art both outdoors and in the studio. I feel I have had some breakthroughs with my work now that I have more time to devote to painting and learning, and forever grateful to the amazing mentors I have in Jill and Skip.

I recently received word that I am of 58 artists selected to participate in Plein Air Easton 2020. This is such an honor as it is juried event, highly competitive and regarded as the top plein air festival in the country (6-8,000 people in attendance - yikes!) I am so appreciative to the organizers of PAE and congratulate all the wonderful artists who were selected.

Thank you for visiting my website and please come by my studio if you ever find yourself in Sun Valley, Idaho!

Cheers,
